Hello! I hope you’re well!!

It’s February!!! After the January Plein Air Challenge which was such an amazing adventure, February is calling for more cozy moments. In this post I’m sharing what’s inspired me this week and a few of my personal highlights.

What would yours be?

It’s snowdrop season here in Yorkshire!

The snowdrop displays throughout Yorkshire are just getting better and better! I’ll be honest, when a friend said she was off to the Dominican Republic for a retreat, part of me looooonged to be off to somewhere sunny and warm… BUT then I look at the snowdrops (and we have some wild ones just next to our house) and the way they just dance in the wind… their beauty really does help me foster a sense of gratitude for the seasons. And yes, though winter is hard and harsh, there’s still plenty to appreciate. And it’s so good to just list them!

This Week’s Highlights

  • the snowdrops, as already mentioned, they are such glorious little treasures, so enchanting, so whimsical and so delicate

  • my friend Rebecca’s solo debut exhibition on Saturday was a delight to be at, I was so pleased for her and her work is stunning (her website, should you want some originals or prints: Rebecca Feneley Studio)

  • spending a lot of time drawing and painting larger pieces (A3, which is larger for me!!) while listening to U2, Taylor Swift and Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon on Audible.

  • talking at a local event for creatives, 9 of us were asked to talk about our creative practice using the Pecha Kulcha method of 20 images x 20 seconds (for each image). It was so much fun and I met several people whom I know will become friends. And I got a few great tips from some of them on running an exhibition. So now I’m feeling better equipped and quite excited about the future of my art practice!

  • going on a valentine’s lunch date with Mike. It’s early but next week is looking veeeeerrrry busy for both of us - seize the day my friends!!

  • drawing tulips while they’re still ok-ish, that time is ending now though so it’ll be back to the snowdrops and then hopefully crocuses, yes!!!!

Club Dates To Not Forget

Tuesday 11th February - 7pm GMT | The co-creating meeting this month will be focusing on decluttering drawers and paper bags. At the beginning we will quickly discuss what we’re hoping to achieve and then come back together in the end to celebrate our achievements. You won’t believe what we’ll achieve together!! This meeting is for those who’ve been putting something off for too long!! Let’s create some blissfully organised space!!! The meeting will last 1h and will be recorded.

Friday 14th February - 7pm GMT | PARIS in WINTER - The co-drawingmeeting this month will be held in partnership with brilliant author and illustrator Samantha Dion Baker. Together we will look at seasonal images from Paris in Winter. We will have a quick peek at some masterpieces before creating our own sketches based on our personal photography of Paris. Members must bring materials they feel comfortable using. All levels welcome and celebrated!

Note: all zoom sign links will be sent out to paid subscribers in the club chat. Head there to sign up!

Artwork for Sale Someday

Some of you have asked if my artwork is for sale, the answer is: not yet but soon-ish. I’m taking my time to really enjoy playing and experimenting before launching into sales-mode.

Thanks for asking though, cause although it’s not a popularity contest, it’s always nice to know my work resonates with some of you!! So thank you!!!

Art Retreat News

There is only one space left which we’re delighted with! A lot of work has already been put into organising this retreat and I can’t tell you how excited I am to be at this stage!

Art Retreat Drawing Session Replay

If you’d like to carve out time this weekend to watch the replay of the Italian Art Retreat drawing session I had with the folk over in Italy, this is your last chance to watch it (free) before it goes into the club archives next week. Think olive trees, swimming pool, ancient villages on a hill….
