This Week's Visual Journal

Week 27 of 2024

Highlights of the week:

  • Picking strawberries with my youngest, a totally sweet moment as next school year he’ll be in class til 3pm. No more afternoon dates with mum. My heart aches and is full of joy both at once.

  • Dreaming up illustrations for a club I’m hoping to launch in September. It may include a monthly gazette, inspired by the March sisters up in their attic, contributing to the Pickwick Portfolio. I’m having so much fun!

  • Nathan’s bday party with his friends. It was very simple. He enjoyed it and we did too. I think it’s getting easier.

  • Smelling the sweetness of honeysuckle in the local hedgerows on my daily walks to school drop off and pick up.

  • Voting. Such a privilege.

  • Flowers I received from the toddler group I’ve been helping with for a few years. I’m saying farewell to focus on my family and work. It’s been a blast.

  • I’ve been drawing strawberries in my larger Pith sketchbook all week. Drawing these visual journal pages was a treat. I accidentally ended up with a Toy Story Woody shirt pattern, can you spot it? Toy Story was not on my radar AT ALL this week but perhaps with the boys moving up to different schools this summer and some sorting out needed, there could have been a subconscious pull towards it. Who knows!

In other news, much to my surprise, I’ve already finished drawing in my large Oroblanco Pith sketchbook which I only got in May. It’s been the most comfortable I’ve ever been in a sketchbook. I’ve posted a flip through for my paid subscribers which you can watch here.

Hope you’ve had a great week x
