Hello!! It’s MAY!!!! I think it might be my favourite month….. but that changes sometimes!

How was your week? Was it as sunny with you as it was here? I wrote the May issue of the club GAZETTE which was super fun. This month we’re looking into travel sketchbooks, among other creative things. The monthly video will cover this theme and I CANNOT wait for all the fun meets!!! Melissa Lakey and Holly Surplice will be joining… literally could not be more thrilled!! I hope you can join too!!

Otherwise, this week I worked on a commission (I don’t take many), continued work on the still life minis and continued my search for a studio. I’ve really enjoyed the sun, I’ve voted, I’ve stopped to enjoy the bluebells before they’re gone and I made a crosswords for you in the gazette. Did you see it? Here it is if you missed it!!!

Materials used

Some materials I used while making this spread:

  • Caran d’Ache Neocolor II

  • Kaweco fountain pen

  • some washi tape to create the borders

  • a Prismacolor pencil PC1019 (called Rosy Beige)

  • the sketchbook I made myself, you can see more on that in the club videos

Highlights of the week

  • the sunshine

  • putting suncream on

  • ballet

  • seeing a fox run past us on Sunday

  • finally grinding some earth pigments in my new garden studio (it only took 2 years or so…)

  • planning all the fun club events for this month (I hope everyone has as much fun as me)

  • prepping canvases for a trip to the Lake District, no pressure though

  • seeing locally sourced strawberries in the shops - aren’t they so joyful??

  • my homemade granola has been exceptionally good since I decided to add more maple syrup and coconut to the recipe.

my pigment studio: up and running!!

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you can take a few minutes to savour the good times from this week - even if it’s just writing down 5 top moments. Do It!!
