Hi Helen, I love the blue and orange combination and your sketches are lovely. And this amazing tins collection. I think I have to search for some flea markets in my area. Yesterday meeting was so inspiring! So many great ideas. Definitely I need a few tins ;-) Can’t wait for the winter plain air post. We have also snow and it’s cold so I gave up my outside sketching for a while. But it would be nice to read your tips for it so looking forward for it. Have a nice weekend!

Do you know of flea markets near you? Honestly I think those are the best to start with. Or a car boot sale. I’d be so excited to see what that looks like. Thanks for all this Ela!

Unfortunately I live in a small village and there are no flea markets around. And we don’t have this great car boot sale. It’s unusual in Poland :-( maybe somewhere in bigger cities. I tried to search online but without result. I think I have to search in cities near me. I’ll share if I find sth. Have a great week. Take care:-)

Maybe google antique fair (which may actually be like a car boot sale) in your area and yes, flea markets in larger cities. I hope you find some!

I like the scale of the top right but I like the detail of the top left. My favorite part of all of them is seeing how you interpreted the trees on the left each time.

Yes the trees!!! I love being a bit more expressive with trees. They’re so glorious.

I like the top left one the best. I like how you show detail but you keep the whole picture loose. It has a cosy charm to it.🥰

All the lovely blues 😍 You're so lucky to have had snow, I haven't felt the need to draw the hailstones this week yet 😅

The top-left is my favorite. The creative use of orange to interpret the trees and roofs adds so much life to the winter dullness. I love the color mix—orange, olive, blue, and bark brown are all my favorites!

Hello Helen, I really like the top left church picture. I think its the detail that draws me too it. The colours are bold and look super together. I so thoroughly enjoyed joining in the Tiny Tins Session. I'm looking forward to watching the replay. There were some lovely ideas shared. I've never painted anything outdoors, I tend to take a picture then paint that. I know the eye shows us a different vista to the camera but I'm still building up confidence. Could I just ask, Do you paint your journal pages in retrospect? Thank you as always.

I’m so glad you enjoyed the zoom call. I was so nervous! But also really enjoyed it. So many incredible ideas!!

Yes my journals are pretty much always in retrospect. As references, I work from my own notes, sketchbook work and photos. My sketchbook work is radically different from my visual journals. I always leave my visual journals safe in my studio, never take it out. ✨
