Hi friends!
Today, in a rather unusual way, I started my weekly visual journals with ink work, lettering and illustrating the last few days and then added watercolour. I used to use this method a lot. With making the club’s monthly video on the topic of travel sketchbooks, I revisited quite a lot of inky work, a blast from the past. And this reminded me of how fun starting with ink can be.
Highlights of the week
Haworth at last - this trip in itself was a complete dream come true. We’ve lived in Yorkshire 7 years now and still hadn’t visited the Brontë parsonage, unforgivable I know, rectified!
highlights within the above highlight: admiring the tiny little books Emily and Charlotte made just for fun, noticing how small Charlotte’s surviving spectacles were/are, being in the dining room where Charlotte, Emily and Anne wrote and read books together, peeking into the school where they taught (I love the fact that they taught), loving their art boxes…
spending time with Mike, as my parents looked after the kids - this in itself was a total treat - we stayed at Daisy Bank Camp, a fantastic set up for nature lovers, where you can enjoy panoramic views from your bed and walk up to the moors in seconds. We had all our meals al fresco and had a no car day, only reading, sketching and hiking.
working towards the still life launch today (Saturday 24th May at noon BST) and feeling such excitement, I had goosebumps
having lunch out with my parents after a busy week, they’ll soon be heading back to Northern Ireland.
What. A. Dream.
