There are 2 spreads this week. One for last week, the 2nd for this week.
Week 49 of 2024
The last week of November
Highlights of the week:
painting the Starry Night at Bethlehem on canvas, inspired by the Mediterranean landscape I tried to capture in Italy in October.
people signing up for the art retreat in Italy in Sep 2025, it’s so exciting to see this dream come true. I can’t wait to meet everyone and create together.
seeing a local sweet chestnut tree coming down was the opposite of a highlight (I got completely melancholic over it) but the neighbours donated a large amount of the wood for our log burner which will be very comforting in years to come.
getting my business cards printed and loving the blue in it. It’s actually cropped from an olive tree I painted in Italy.
Caleb’s class had parents in for a challenge: creating a parachute for an egg (the goal being to not let the egg crack). We drew our design and identified materials needed and he brought me biscuits and tea. We had a great time and he said: “mum, I want to put this papachute into my memory box. We’ll always remember this, won’t we?!” My heart. He knows me well.
I did most of this spread during the club’s co-journaling session which paid subscribers can watch on replay here.
Week 50 of 2024
Hard to believe there’s only 2 more weeks to go!! Now I’m realising this can’t be correct, there are 3 weeks to go - I must have mis-numbered my week at some point during the year!! Oh well!!!
Highlights of the week:
I sold originals, prints, Christmas cards at the old Victorian Corn Exchange in Doncaster on Saturday. It was pretty incredible and I’m still processing the impact it’s had on my art practice. To see passersby look and notice my bigger canvas and watch their faces light up… there are no words for what that does to one’s confidence… However, I say this with caution… and know too well this was one moment in time and an artist’s life or career cannot be built on just that! It’s all part of a journey! And I’m glad to be sharing the journey with you here!
The co-creating zoom meeting this month was making gift tags from recycled cardboard. I used old bird books and websites such as this American Barn Owl Identification to paint them and cute them out.
Now that the Corn Exchange event is over, I am well and truly getting into the Christmas mood with a delightful wreath making workshop (I’ve been doing this on my own for years but this time I went with a friend and it was so lovely to be led by an expert), some end of term parties, the kids’ Christmas concerts and some card making sessions with friends.
I sent the Christmas paper bundles to the Time Foragers’ Club founding members this week and hope they’ll get to their destination before the 25th. Thank you founding members, you have been SUCH a blessing! I’m already looking forward to collecting bits&bobs and creating more art for 2025.
What was your week like? How would you draw it? What colours would you use?
As always, thanks for your support and enthusiasm for the weekly visual journals. I hope to continue these in 2025 and still haven’t decided which sketchbook to use… I might be making my own.
Talk soon xx
