The getting and not getting of arts grants is painful stuff. I’ve applied for half a dozen here in Tasmania over the years and got none despite having gone properly through the process and made the phone calls, taken the advice, got letters from supporters (and then had to tell them it was all for nothing). In the end I decided never to apply again and sometimes still send a big virtual raspberry noise through the ether to the grant bodies. I’ve gone my own way instead. There is heaps of creative juice out there that has nothing to do with these people and the quickest glance at your lovely Substack shows you have an abundance of ideas and forward motion. Keep going!
Wow Fiona, thanks so much! Yes I did all of that too (calls, letters, getting friends to read) and it’s been a marathon but I’m now at peace about not having got it. Your words have been such an encouragement this morning. 🧡
