This Week's Visual Journals

Week 10 of 2026

Hello friends!

How’s your week been?

This week in the studio, as well as continuing my still life collection which I talk about here and here, I’ve been editing the club’s March video. It has a colour-packed travel vlog of my recent time in London along with a matching sketchbook tour, highlighting what I saw and did there! The sketchbook is full of sketches and illustrations which I’ll enjoy coming back to again and again. I’ve also added tickets, postcards, bookmarks, receipts etc with my favourite washi-tape. I painted the front cover of this London sketchbook today when I went live on Substack with my friend Emma Carpendale. While drawing we chatted about our favourite women as we celebrate International Women’s Day this weekend.

🍰 The video of my 2 day trip to London with a full sketchbook tour will be sent to paying members as part of their monthly bundle this coming Tuesday (10th Match).

This Week’s Mundane Magic

  • listening to Great Women Artist Podcast episode with Katherine Rundell, interviews by Katy Hessel

  • a walk in Old Cantley where I did some sketching and Mike took polaroid pics

  • one day of sunny weather meant I could sit outside with a coat on to have my lunch - I then closed my eyes and listened to the birds

  • a lovely, relaxed chat Co-Creative session over Zoom with the club members as we were doing our own projects (swatching, sketching, journaling etc) and chatting about movie adaptations (as well as lots of other cozy topics of conversation)

  • continuing my studio work painting the still life collection as the date for the exhibition is fast approaching - the finishing colours of the oil pastels brought so much hope to the whole body of work, I think I’m nearly finished some pieces

  • continuing to witness the crocuses, snowdrops, daffodils, camellias, mimosas and always the evergreens growing and looking lush

Materials Used in Today’s Spread

  • A variety of Caran D’Ache Neocolor 2 pastels

  • A variety of Derwent Intense pencils

  • Holbein Acrylic Gouache: Misty Blue D801

  • A green dual brush pen Tombow 312

  • A Kaweco fountain pen for journaling
