Process videos
In this video, I’m showing in real time what I tend to do every week with a base of watercolour. On the left I am creating a feature vignette, on the right I’m adding several boxes to illustrate the days of the week. This time, I’m creating as I’m going along, I have not pre-planned the layout or what I’ll include in the boxes. While the paint is drying, I find it helpful to check my calendar and journaling notes from the week, or sometimes my iPhone pics give a clue as to what my week’s included!
Once dry, I continue this spread during Emma Carpendale’s co-sketching session which I’d highly recommend.
As part of my highlights:
drawing a local cottage during my co-drawing session with LaScarlatte
lots of trees changing colour
reading a book on Henri Matisse I borrowed from the local library
a concertina course I’m taking at the museum which is really pushing me out of my comfort zone
a bowl of leek&potato soup as I was looking out the window at the museum.
all the sweet chestnuts
working some more on my Italian paintings, inspired by my residency from 2 weeks ago
What’s your week been like? What images come to mind?
ART RETREAT in Italy
Some exciting news….
This week I finalised art retreat plans and details with Elisabeth from Le Mole Sul Farfa in Mompeo, Italy where I did my art residency 2 weeks ago. The dates for the art retreat will be
Monday 15th Sep - Saturday 20th Sep 2025
I will be posting more info on this next week here on Substack as well as on Instagram with links to the website. Stay tuned!
Until then,
Have a great weekend!

It's a really lovely practice to reflect on the week in thiswayy. The moments that make life magic captured so beautifully 😊
Thank you for sharing. Loved your process and how it all cohesively comes together. Do you decide on colour palette before you set paint down? Thank you
