Celebrating week 20 of 2024 (feels like a benchmark) with a bunch of seasonal flowers.
This past week’s been bitter sweet. The passing of a dear friend’s husband hit hard. We were each other’s bridesmaids and they got married on my birthday (20th May). He was younger than me. In these moments, you want to be together which has been hard for me because we live so far apart.
And yet, life continues somehow. The sun is providing some warmer days here, with new life everywhere. The peonies, poppies and roses are splendid. The random shoots popping up from our kitchen compost… which we’ve identified, they are pumpkins. I repotted each of them to give to local friends. They were such happy little plants, I didn’t have the heart to discard them, all those future Cinderella pumpkins!!
My garage pigment studio is coming along slowly and probably deserves a post to itself. Between our FB marketplace finds and the potting on of my madder plants, we’re heading in the right direction to create a space for a wonderful production of my own pigments someday soon. It’s all very exciting.
Hope you have a great weekend xx
Technical PS: My over head camera desk mount fell off its little shelf on Thursday so I filmed this week’s process video on my knees with my tripod. I didn’t really mind. In fact, it opened up opportunities for me. Maybe I could film the process in the garden or even further afield.
Gorgeous flowers! And I’m sorry to hear about your loss.
