Today’s main illustration was inspired by a sketchbook page from Jan/Feb last year when I was visiting my sister in Paris. Revisiting my sketchbooks from then has been fun and has made me consider making larger art from my sketches. I hope to attempt baby steps in that direction next week. On that note though, would anyone be interested in a free drawing zoom with scenes of Paris in Winter? I have a few photos I can share. Thinking gorgeous grey scenes with pops of colour, like parakeets, bunches of mimosas, little daffodils, etc. I drew more cats on a zoom call with Charlotte Hamilton (Blue Shine Art) than I had the rest of my life and thoroughly enjoyed it so I added one to the journaling part of my Parisian scene.
Otherwise, this week’s been slow but busy (oxymoron?). There’s been a few storms which have kept us in. We got out for a quick walk on Saturday and shared a birthday cake with friends but didn’t manage foraging rosehips. We’ll just have to leave them and enjoy seeing them on our walks for a bit longer. Which is fine by me!
In other slightly more domestic news, our washing machine started leaking Saturday so we got someone to come check it out and given the diagnosis, decided to buy a new one. This felt hard as ours was only 2 years old. Apparently, it may have been damaged by a coin. Lesson learnt: always check pockets. Anyhoooo, friends helped us with a few loads of laundry and we now have a new one and are soooo thankful for it. Easily taken for granted.
Since I drew this spread, I saw some snowdrops on my walk to nursery. Amazing.
I can't get enough of these letters. Love the notes. The visual. Watching you work. So inspiring. And relaxing.
Love to see your art journal every week Helen! And YES to drawing on zoom from Paris pictures 🤗💕
