Highlights of my week:
Managing to get my DYCP application submitted, my plan is to learn how to make my watercolours, inks and pastels from plants and earth and to try painting larger, bolder pieces. The application was a lot of hard work and I’ll find out on 27th June if I am awarded the grant.
Having a morning in Epworth for a special commission involving plants and John Wesley’s book Primitive Physick. It was so interesting learning more about the Wesley family and I will be documenting this job as I go along.
Walking to the shop and play park with my 3 boys, enjoying a special detour to the cherry tree blossom alley which is magical at this time of year. We bought sweets and ice cream at the shop and have talked about making it a tradition.
As part of their Easter break, the boys and I also planted all our seeds. We have so many and we can’t wait to see the garden in a few weeks. We’re very thankful for our little patch here.
Our climbing roses have just arrived. They will hopefully provide many rose hips in years to come. Though I don’t think it’ll stop us from foraging them too! This afternoon we hope to get to a local shop to pick up an archway for them to climb up against.
All the blossoms everywhere. Such a delight.
I have 2 process videos here today, starting with watercolour first and adding gouache and pencil with my journaling notes second. I will be sending a 14min introductory video for my paid subscribers as well with a bit more details on my drawings this week in my “play sketchbook”.
Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend. xx
Good luck on the grant. I think that it would be so wonderful to use what is nature to then express nature ☺️ 🪴 🌺
I’ve been trying to plant my seeds for weeks. I need more hours in the day. I need to retire.
