Highlights of this week:
the smell of freshly pulled rhubarb.
the ever increasing awareness of patterns including reds, ochres and pinks.
a Saturday doing lots of jobs around the house with a trip to pick up some school shoes and a visit to a play park and sweetie shop.
a week of mornings in the studio working on the Wesley house commission on plants and remedies of the 18th Century. The work included the illustration of a red hollyhock.
painting my nails felt really nice (which already isn’t looking great anymore haha).
Nathan’s 11th birthday and his cozy popcorn Jellycat soft toy.
And for those who encouraged me last week, after I voiced frustration over my spread, thank you! In the end, I decided to dedicate a whole other double page to my trip to Paris. I realised we’re nearly half way through the year and I still have plenty more pages left in this Royal Talens sketchbook to complete the year, plus more (a lot more). So of course, now I’m thinking I may do this much more often!! That turning of the page to try again is just so very liberating. That’s the essence of a sketchbook. So maybe this is where chronological diary meets sketchbook. Anyway, I drew poplars reflected in water from a picture I took at the Parc de Sceaux and a cool bicycle we saw at the flew market. And I’m much happier now that there’s a little more blue and green in there to represent our springtime adventures in Paris.
Have a lovely weekend xx
