Hi Lovelies,
Sending you cozy vibes this Saturday and sharing two process videos.
Samuel the grey squirrel is back to say hello, this week he managed to grab a red doughnut but decided to leave it for his human friends, he still prefers nuts and berries. He had fun delivering some cards this week though, he is sometimes faster than the national mail service.
On this spread, I first used washi-tape to frame two mini pieces, the top left was pretty simple, a red doughnut and a cup of coffee - as I bought a box of 6 for the family for Valentines and got some solo time while I was there waiting for our eldest who was at a party. For the bottom right washi-tape box I wasn’t sure in what direction to go so decided to just have fun with watercolours at first, then grey posca pen, then neocolor II and finally acrylic. In the end, I decided to paint it all Paynes grey with the acrylic paint and come back later to add gouache. I’m glad I took a break to reflect at that point.
Then it became obvious to me that Tunnock’s Tea Cakes should be represented on the second Payne’s grey box as they’ve been another lovely treat we’ve all enjoyed this week and they look so wonderful and joyful. I pealed off the washi-tape (which didn’t work so well) and added botanical details to frame them, both with pencil on the outside and with gouache in the inside to help it pop. The last step was adding the words which was fun and I finished it after filming this.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the spread, that it inspires you to keep a record of your week, whatever that looks like because every minute counts. Have a great weekend.
Love the pops of red! Beautiful spread.
“So many cups of coffee” same! 🥰
