Hello loves,
Here are several videos - an introductory one and a few fast ones. Today, I’m experimenting with gold as this was a visual aspect of my 2-day trip to London, I kept seeing pops of gold everywhere. So I’m bringing out some old materials I found in my cupboard during my recent studio clear out (including an embossing kit kept from 2017!). We’ve also had some snow and snowdrops!
Just a little picture doesn’t really do the spread justice as you can’t see the gold shining much but it will a pleasure to come to this when I flip through the sketchbook at the end of the year. A note on the embossing pen, it still works and I think I’m pleased with the end result. I will add a bit more in parts (the word GOLD bottom right needs more) and I will probably attempt adding some to the London sketchbook cover. As I said, I’m so excited and grateful to be working on this.
Materials used today:
RoyalTalens sketchbook (the London sketchbook is Seawhite of Brighton), Winsor&Newton watercolours and golden ink, Holbein gouache, Papermania gold embossing set (with Tinsel Gold powder), Unpin pigment ink, Faber-Castell and Prismacolour pencils, Tombow pens, Caran D’Ache Neocolor II. A wrap from a chocolate biscuit.
I hope you’ve had a great week and I wish you a cozy weekend.
I love the embossed gold! 😍 do you sketch out your layout beforehand?? I always have such a hard time squeezing text in around the images in my sketchbook - I don’t ever plan for enough space 😆 your layout here is just perfect (the street lamp!)
I love using gold. I’ve used gold acrylic paint quite a bit but I’d love to try gold leaf some time, maybe the fake variety, not real gold! I’m sure that would be crazy expensive.😊
