A few weeks back when I was planning the month of November for The Time Foragers’ Club, I reached out to Margaux Kent and the message went a little like this: “Hey love, Was wondering if you’d like to co-host a creative zoom? I’m thinking of ways we can slow down and create our own Christmas gifts from old vintage finds instead of hitting a mall the week before Christmas, embracing thoughtfulness and slowing down the waste market. Thinking of little tins or cute matchboxes. Everyone can get on with their own projects, filling in their tiny tins whatever way they wish, in a happy co-working, busy studio sort of way.”
She quickly replied: “I would LOVE to partake.”

A bit of background
Margaux and I have been friends over on Instagram for years but more significantly in the last year. She took a special interest in my Folktale Week story which involved a Squirrel character called Samuel. The story is based on true historical facts from the 1770’s and begins in PA - more on that another time (or you can read about him here). In a funny sort of way, I was visiting my brother in PA at the time. When Margaux and I realised how close we were geographically, it was sadly too late to schedule to meet in person. Since then though, we’ve been in touch and have had zoom calls where we chat and work and I WILL visit her someday. Also… I LOVE her studio!
The event
Thanks to anyone who’s signed up. The event is fully booked and there are a fair amount of guests in the waiting list. If you are booked in and know you can’t make it, please do cancel on Luma and someone else will be able to come along to the Live call in your place.
What to expect
This event is a co-creating session, one of several Time Foragers’ Club November meetings. Both Margaux and I will bring a project we hope to work on. We are so excited to be filling up our tins!
NOTE: It will not be a step by step tutorial but rather an invitation to create something magically unique to you (think of it as a co-working session with a little direction).
The best way to prepare for the event:
Collect little tins (if you don’t have any, a matchbox or any little box are perfect alternatives). This is what you will fill up with tiny elements of your choice.
Think of a theme or topic for your tin (is it a gift for someone or something special for you to keep?)
Collect materials that you’d like to use during the call and after. It could be:
tiny bits of paper to draw/write on which can fit the tin
a long strip of paper (accordion-type) to fold and put into the tin
art materials (watercolour, ink, pencils, you name it…) you’d like to use
little tiny objects which would fit in the tin, I’ve included a few ideas here in the pic below. Top tip: spend some time organising your desk drawers or bedside table drawers, I always find amazing little things when I sort them out!
There will be an opportunity to ask relevant questions during a Q&A. You can ask questions in the chat comments starting with Q so that we see it.
There will hopefully be a time to share at the end, if you want. If you also wish to share your work afterwards on social media, we would love to see it, please tag us. Your creation may also be featured in the December issue of the Time Foragers’ Club’s monthly gazette.
We can’t wait to see you on Friday and wish you well in your prep. Until then, you may enjoy watching this scene from the Amelie movie.

By any chance will there be a video of this one? It sounds amazing!
Looking forward for this session Helen! 🤍
