Hi friends,
In a video yesterday, as part of my Summer Bulletin, I shared a flip through my play sketchbook and what inspired me this week on the run up to my weekly visual journal. If you didn’t see it, here’s the link.
In today’s video, I’m sharing a Timelapse of me journaling this week with waterproof ink, Neocolor pastels, a Kaweco fountain pen and a little Holbein acrylic gouache. I had a lot of fun. For anyone new here, hi! I’ve been working my way through this journal all year since the first week of January. We are now on week 25.
Highlights of the week include:
a wonderful pigment workshop in Huddersfield, led by Lucy and Ed from The Old Mill, up in Scotland.
illustrating plants and garden beds in Epworth for the Wesley’s Rectory house, as part of a big commission.
a wild poppy Nathan picked for me.
Evelyn Skye’s podcast episode with Pierce Brown on overcoming self-doubt. Such a treat!
a tea party with friends. This was for the leaders of the toddler group I’ve been helping with the past few years. I’m stepping back from this to focus on my work and family. It was especially sweet as we enjoyed Janet’s glorious garden and homemade treats.
I couldn't add this to the spread because it happened after I drew my journal but I loved taking part in Charlotte Hamilton’s zoom drawing session last night which was all about peonies. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Midsummers!! I used Neocolor IIs mainly for this in 2 Pith sketchbooks.
Have a lovely first summer’s weekend. What are your plans? We’re getting our barbecue ready and are pretty excited.
xx
